M. Jayachandran the classic trained musician is struggling a lot to reach songs that par with historical and period movies. His songs are not up to mark . He is not good at producing situation based songs fit to the movies. Odiyan and Mamangam movies pitted this.
Mamangam was a story about 18 th century warriors and the song he composed mookoothi offered a look of semi classical punch hit out in 21st century. He never used traditional instruments or composed tune fit to this movie. Only we can see there a bunch of dancers dancing light of lamps and garland of flowers.
The song is not a classical hit. We can see the composer brewing under the song rather come front.
The song is not a experimental one. He only keeps the mask of song composer not a perfect musician in this song. His arrangements for this song is only least hope. And the song was not heat off among audience. Compare to the songs of Oru vadakkan veera gatha the song is only a offer talk of Composer Jayachandran. The song is not a genuine interested piece of him.
Similarly the songs of Odiyan. He is only tinker at the margins not a outlast sound templates are there.
He spoil the music with out giving glorious past of the movie . He does not even bring changes in his compositions.

Why did he kill the music doing such songs , the main question raises up.
He does n’t know how to executes ragas doing compositions. He should think a moment at least before doing such songs. He is not an expert to do historical movies aswellas period movies.
He scratches the song with unpolished orchestration and levelling singer’s who are not fit to the songs. After the movie release the songs make the audience laugh finally they tanked at the box office. He just ambush under the image of Composer after the film release and picking up next projects taking care of no damage of his image.
Only a musician having much experience in this field should elect the Director’s for such movies. Ilayaraja , Bombay Ravi , Naushad all are did such films after getting ample amount of experience from this fraternity.
Only a person having such capacity to do in Indian cinema with out breaking this boundary is A.R. Rahman. Because he is Jack of all trades. No one can compose in Historical movies rather than Rahman. And no one can looked it up later.
