Mangalassery Neelakantan one of the best performances in Mohanlal career , a real story of Mullassery Rajagopal. The classical fine touch movie released in the year 1993. In this movie Neelan (Mohanlal) running althrough his life by the inheritance from father. Neelan is a rowdy and womanizer says the movie but the fact is that he is passionate in music and temple arts. He has a devoted land servant and father figure close to him and a group of Rowdees . He has not afraid to leap in to the fight , but he has a soul of artist. He has an enemy his name is Mundakkal Shekaran. In their enemity there comes Bhanumathi a proud classical dancer and a feckless of drunkard father.
Bhanumathi ready to start career in classical dance but Neelakandan and his friends ashamed her father offering drinks at the middle of dance performance. But she glares at him and shakes her belled foot. After finishing dance performance she says you insult the genuine art takes off her bells and throw on to his face vowing never dance again. After the curse fall on his ears he try to back her by other ways. But one day when he visit her house and ask her to tie the bells for him she says it will happen after death . On that particular time Neelan chats to his land servant it is from her firm mind that took decision.
After the departure he is beaten up horrbly and blood shed happen by Mundakkal Shekaran and goons and he become paralyzed. Once he is bedridden he plea her I am partially dead please let me repent one sin before I gonna die. She dances Joyfully for him at that particular happiness moment Neelan starts his recovery. The film ends with a absolute spit fire confrontation between Neelan and Shekaran. If Neelan fights they will harm Bhanumathi who has been kidnapped. Neelan takes blow after blow until he sees she is safely rescued by his friends. Then Neelan who is half handicapped bounce back roaring like a lion and beating Shekaran one by one and cut off his left hand says I want to live . And he slowly fall on to the shoulder of Bhanumathi and walk slowly with her.
This is the end of the story. Mohanlal with his amazing Character sinking as Neelan and Revathi her character performance of Bhanumathi captivated the heart and soul of the movie. With the master performance of all crew members malayalis rewatched the movie multiple times . It is justifiably a classical movie contributed to all Indian cinema.
